MAMMOTH
“Astonishment is the state of the soul in which all its motions are suspended, with some degree of horror.” – Edmund Burke (1757)
Mammoth is embedded in the artistic concept of the Romantic Sublime. Referencing 18th century philosophers and painters through to contemporary artists of the 21st century, the Sublime is a meeting of the emotional and natural world and has the ability to simultaneously compel and destroy us. This moment in time is where Mammoth begins.
“There are some enthralling visual effects, such as cascading silk sheets which float and catch the dancers, who themselves are riveting. These facets, combined with a clear narrative drive, create a stunning performance.” Rita Clarke See Saw Magazine June 2022
